Chronic otitis media manifests itself through pain in the structures of the middle ear, particularly the tympanic membrane and ossicular chain.
Chronic otitis is always caused by a dysfunction of the Eustachian tube, the canal that connects the nasal cavity with the middle ear and allows ventilation: the ear undergoes a disease that originates in the nose.
For this reason, the ENT specialist usually checks the nasal cavities with an endoscopy and may request a CT scan of the sinuses and then, potentially, nasal surgery.
In any case, the correction of any nasal problems is carried out and then we move on to surgical treatment.
